Shishapangma

Shishapangma, or Shishasbangma or Xixiabangma, is the 14th-highest mountain in the world, at 8,027 metres (26,335 ft) above sea level. The lowest 8,000 metre peak, it is located entirely within Tibet.

Shishapangma, also known as Xixabangma, lies wholly in Tibet (China), north of Nepal and about 100 miles west-northwest of Everest; published elevations in the reviewed historical sources are 8,013 m and 8,046 m. It was the last of the fourteen 8,000-meter peaks to be climbed, with the first ascent made by a Chinese expedition in 1964.

Routes and approaches

A documented northern approach reached the mountain from Nyalam by road, established base camp near the lower end of the Nyanang Glacier, and continued over the Yabukangala Glacier toward the climbing route.
