Cho Oyu is an 8,201-metre mountain in the Himalayas on the Nepal–Tibet (China) border, about 30 km northwest of Mount Everest . The peak’s summit was first reached on 19 October 1954 by an Austrian party including Herbert Tichy, Sepp Jöchler, and Pasang Dawa Lama .
