Move your onX Backcountry lines and waypoints into Traverse.

The short answer

In onX, open My Content, select a markup or folder, choose Export and save as GPX. Share the file to Import to Traverse on iPhone or upload it to the Traverse web Atlas. GPX preserves geographic content, but not every onX style, note or photo.

Export one onX markup

1. Open My Content in onX and locate the route, track or waypoint.
2. Open its options and choose Export, then save as GPX.
3. Choose Import to Traverse from the iPhone share sheet, or upload the file to Atlas on the web.
4. Review the imported line and add Traverse notes, conditions and waypoints.

Export a folder or several markups

1. Open My Content and choose Select.
2. Select the markups or folder you want to preserve, then choose Export.
3. Save the result as GPX. For multiple files, repeat the export and upload them together in Traverse web.
4. Use Atlas folders to separate objectives, seasons or clients.

What moves across

• Routes, tracks and waypoints — Yes: The geographic position and name are the useful GPX core.
• onX colors and icons — No: onX warns that GPX and KML do not preserve these customisations.
• Photos — No: Photos are not included in exported files.
• Folders — Yes, as a file: Folder exports can group selected markups, but recreate the organisation in Atlas.
• Notes and line styling — Limited: Keep critical notes separately and re-add them to a Traverse plan.

A clean handoff for geographic data

onX's export is useful when the thing you need is the line, route or waypoint. Traverse then adds terrain analysis, weather at elevation, glacier and snow context, trip plans and offline preparation.

Check what did not transfer

Before deleting anything in onX, confirm that important photos, notes, styles and icons have a separate backup. GPX is intentionally a geographic interchange format.
